Ian McKellen hints at return in The Hunt for Gollum
Ian McKellen hints that Gandalf and Frodo could return in upcoming Tolkien film The Hunt for Gollum directed by Andy Serkis.
Sir Ian McKellen surprised fans today with a hint that he and fellow original cast member Elijah Wood may return for The Lord of the Rings The Hunt for Gollum. The announcement came during the Love of Fantasy event in London where McKellen identified Andy Serkis as both director and actor in the new film.
Though he did not formally confirm his own involvement McKellen’s comments implied the franchise’s original representation of wizard and hobbit could return for the December 2027 film.
